This year the Sagra degli Agrumi is taking an offensive approach and doubling up: after 51 successful editions, the symbolic festival of Sarrabus is also landing in Costa Rei. A twist that promises to make the event even more engaging. It starts in Muravera from April 24 to 27, then moves from May 1 to 4 to the most renowned tourist spot on the coast.
Music, flavors, and tradition: a record-breaking program. On the table are 200,000 euros and an event calendar to envy: on April 25, the Nomadi will take the stage in Piazza Europa (with a fee of 40,000 euros), while the Orangeland music festival will enliven the town center. April 26 will be dedicated to sports and awareness, with an Aido conference featuring the participation of the presidents of the Italian regions. And then the unmissable pratzas, museums, and the grand parade on April 27.
In Costa Rei, instead, four days of celebration with music, gastronomy, and tradition: “Thanks to the collaboration with the natural shopping center, we will bring our historic celebration here as well, with dedicated events and at least one etnotracca,” explains Tourism Councillor Matteo Plaisant, who hopes for the early opening of more accommodation facilities: “The Family Village 4 Mori will start on April 17, the hope is that others will follow the example.”
Citrus and problems: between celebrations and sector crisis. The Sagra is a celebration, but also a moment of reflection: the local citrus sector is on the ropes, threatened by the salinization of aquifers. For this reason, there is room for discussion with experts and institutions to take stock of the situation.
Logistics and viability: the issue of the 125. The opening of the tunnel on the new State Road 125 is still uncertain: if the works are not completed by April 14, the Municipality already has a plan B. “We are planning a free shuttle that will connect Muravera with the Marina di San Giovanni, where we are setting up parking areas,” assures Plaisant.
